VP Communication - Ryan


VP Academics - Adibba, Marissa

  • Student Research Reps Application

    • To represent at Research Committee meetings

    • Discussing who will be successful applicants, determining prioritizing maximizing research opportunities/networking opportunities for students versus individuals with strong research/leadership backgrounds and can support students with their scholarly project pursuits

    • This is a new role so this may change in future classes

    • Addition of role to constitution/clarification of roles/responsibilities

    • Intent is to announce successful applicants by end of week (7 Feb)

  • Block 1 progression

    • This information has not been explicitly shared with VP Academics. Giving respect to the privacy of these students, this information is known solely by SARC rep. 

    • We have not been contacted by SARC Rep for VPA specific concerns about student progression

  • Block 2 Meetings

    • Meeting with Dr. Wu approximately every month with block reps, VPAs, and other CMSA reps as applicable

  • All-encompassing survey being developed by Block Reps 

    • This will be a “drop box” style inbox where students can submit feedback in areas including academics, clinical skills, anatomy, EDIIA, etc. 

    • Integration with new platform being developed by IT Officer?

  • Clinical Skills Make Up Sessions

    • Seeking clarification about how these sessions will run, including who is eligible (ie; can students who feel they want an extra refresher be allowed to join, will students be notified that they are at risk of falling below the attendance requirement, etc.)

    • First session is 21 March

  • MMI

    • Video is being filmed, booklet has been sent off to Admissions office

  • Spring Fling

    • Potential replacement event due to Winter Formal cancellation, more casual event with a cost of $10-20

    • Funding for grad

  • Budget

    • Met with Jonah, the numbers we saw last week for the VP Events portfolio are not representative. We are within budget for all previous events.

  1. MSAC meeting - solidified that MSAC VPX will coordinate events with CMSA VPX (prov)

  2. President Meet and Greet - April 29! There will be food.

Meeting with Block Directors

  1. Presented some of the Family Med/Generalism AMA Survey results and discussed methods to improve curriculum (especially in block one).

  • Awaiting Toronto Notes 2025 shipment - expected Feb. 21-27, 2025

  • Booking accommodations for CMSC 2025 for CMSA delegates


VP SAW - Yekta


VP EDI - Debbie

  • Selected Admissions Committee Representative with a panel of equity-deserving members; they attended their first AdCom meeting on Feb 3rd. 

  • Started an EDI corner in Potoo Post

  • Collaborating with Clinical Skills faculty to expand clinical imaging to include a broader range of skin tones to enhance clinical sign recognition and improve diagnostic accuracy in students.

  • Working with SAWH to provide dates and water on campus during Ramadan for students who are breaking their fast on campus.

Students’ Union ClubHub Training Follow-Up

  • Notes can be found here

  • Important points:

    • Need to make sure we are adding ALL of our events to the website

      • If the CMSA is attached to an event, we MUST submit it to ClubHub

      • Not doing so can lead to the club being locked or our status removed

    • Re-registration must be submitted annually, including the following items:

      • Member roster (must include all undergraduate members’ UCIDs and executive team list)

      • Income and expenses report

      • Recent bank statement

      • Updated constitution

      • Must be submitted in ClubHub between March 3, 2025 and May 15, 2025

    • Need to have ‘designated bookers’

      • Two current UofC undergraduate members who have submitted the designated forms in ClubHub

      • These are the only people that can book in MCEC- and UCAE- managed spaces

      • Suggested that O. Little and M. Makila be our designated bookers

    • Funding Opportunities (more details available in notes):

      • Special Event Funding ($1000/year)

        • Clubs cannot turn a profit

        • Deadline May 9, 2025 for events July 1 - August 31, 2025

      • Activities funding ($300/year)

        • Each funding request individually may not exceed $100

    • Award Opportunities:

      • Due January 31, 2025

      • Each award includes $250 for each club
