• Our stance against racism

• The focus of the statement is on anti-racism

• Lots of discussions have been had with other student groups across the country, the SU, advocacy groups, and many other important stakeholders

• Rafael and Kerry met on Monday regarding this

• Lots of push from students and advocacy groups over the last few weeks

• What is the intent of this statement?

• Groups want a statement that reflects we as a CSMA condemn racism 

• Should we mention the calls to action?

• This will have UME-wide implications 

• Agreed that these should be left out

• Should we call on UME about what happened at the art show?

• Will cause a lot of friction between CMSA and UME

• UME understands that we will be releasing a statement

• Concern on their end has been around the Calls to Action

• Asked Dr. Bromley to begin organizing with the facilitator, as this will be key in finalizing the statement

• UME funds will be used for this

• Background check on the facilitator shows no alarms

• It must be clear to other groups that no more statements will be released following this
