Hosted MMI interview weekends (March 1, 2, 3, 8, 9) with a smashing success! Huge thank you to all of the volunteers that devoted their time to both Coffee Chat nights and Student Leader roles
Put on a Unit 5 post-exam celebration on March 1 - Dim Sum & Disney-themed party!
Provided a free Rumble boxing class to students in coordination with the Athletics director on May 2
Coordinated and attended Med Games in Montreal with 14 students. Took home medals in dodgeball, swimming, and badminton!
Hosted a dodgeball tournament in collaboration with the Athletics Director on May 16
Received Lunkarya Jerseys and facilitated handout to the entire class. All have been picked up!
Multiculturalism in Medicine Showcase: sponsorship package pretty much done and are reaching out to sponsors
Currently planning a Unit 7 post-exam celebration “Grill and Chill”. Will be a fundraising effort for graduation- GET YOUR FRIENDS TO COME~!
Orientation planning is well underway
Communication channels are up and running - new Class of 2027 Facebook page and Orientation instagram
Working with Orientation director to prepare all student-run orientation documents and events
Working with VP SAW to coordinate Upper-Year Buddy Program
Working with Athletics director to plan Med Olympics and Amazing Race
Started process for electing new Baby Animal name for the Class of 2027
Working with VP EDI to plan Stethoscope ceremony - venue and funding is secure ($4000 from UME) as well as confirmed all guest speakers
Working with Social Directors to plan Med Gala - venue confirmed, tickets will go on sale soon, reaching out to charity organizations for partnerships
Getting students to sign up to volunteer for orientation (38 sign ups!)
Will be planning a Unit 8 post-exam celebration in the HMRB atrium - ice cream sundae bar!

Attended CFMS - Spring General meeting (SGM) on April 11-14, 2024
Working with Local Exchange Officer to plan for three exchange students coming to Calgary July and August 2024 (housing, social events, etc.). Additional details to come in June.
Will be in contact with Dr. Gausvik and ILGH office this week to select dates for a Global Health Week in Fall 2024, followed by GH interest groups to identify opportunities for collaboration and iniate planning.
Met with VP Provincial and VP National to begin planning Clubs Fair and Advocacy Symposium

Student Initiative Grants
$23500 allocated towards 23 student projects - 11 from UCalgary, 4 joint UCalgary/Ualberta
43 student submissions were considered for funding
Greater funding was provided towards initiatives geared towards both UAlberta and Ucalgary
For projects not receiving full funding budget amounts were subtracted from budget lines for food with exception of those that were centered around food - ie. Ramadan Potluck, Food as Medicine
Funding was not provided to projects where primary benefit was for a population other than medical students ie. pre-medical students, current doctors.
TD Bursary
Distributed in $1500 (based on greatest need) and $1000 grants (based on lottery system
Advocacy Committee
Coordinated UCalgary engagement as part of the AMA inaugural advocacy committee
Opportunity to participate as a student editor and publish on AMA (reach out to me if interested)

Meeting May 30-31st for 2nd CPSA Council Meeting.

Emailled Dr. A. Bromley to follow up on changing funding allocation from last year
Advocacy Fair
Met with VP Global and VP National to plan advocacy fair for this year
Discussed a shift towards advocacy vs the clubs fair branding from last year. Developing “a roadmap to student advocacy” to help students see all opportunities in one place.

Continued working on consultations and editing for our draft CMSA statement on racism and discrimination
Worked with different stakeholders on their comments and feedback
Met with Western Canadian Medical Societies to discuss a joint-statement on current campus environments around the humanitarian crisis in Palestine
Supported the Medical Students for Justice Canada with their town halls and setting up connections with our class
Took part in the Provincial Day of Action where we advocated for access to primary care at the Alberta Legislature
Worked on the AMA Student Advocacy Committee
Supported Dr. Mintz at the accreditation lunch
Followed-up on diversifying medical skills and standardized patients
Made club funding decisions with the clubs coordinator
Met on the Admissions Committee and made decisions relevant to medical admissions
Worked on the stethoscope ceremony by reaching out to speakers
Advocated for students on class concerns
Dealt with inquiries brought forward regarding professionalism
Met with Dr. Gausvik to discuss various concerns, including addressing racism and discrimination, universal design for learning, and having EDI be more naturally incorporated in tutorial sessions
Created a draft of a Commencement Oath for the Class of 2027
Supported various clubs with event funding and logistical support

Contacted UME Administrative Supervisor Sharon Litton regarding the possibility of allowing students to switch lockers given that the third-year students are leaving for residency
Was told that students cannot switch lockers, and that the current vacant lockers are already reserved for the incoming first-year class
